Plot |
Bookseller William Thacker (Hugh Grant) lives and works in the heart of Notting Hill in London. One day, by a one-in-a-million chance, his shop is visited by exquisite Hollywood actress, Anna Scott (Julia Roberts). Smitten and incredulous, he watches as this perfect woman leaves his shop and life forever. Fate though intervenes and minutes later William collides with her on the pavement of Portobello Road. So begins a tale of romance, of life's little tragedies and the ordinary folk of London W11 being touched by the glitter and hardness of Hollywood. With his kind-hearted, yet chaotic flatmate, Spike (Rhys Ifans) and propped up by his old friends, Max and Bella (Tim McInnerny and Gina McKee), William desperately seeks the face he can't forget... |
