| She's a foul-mouthed tramp who can wrap just about man around her little finger. She steals dead people's ashes and sleeps with gay hunks and religious fanatics with equal indifference. She's Deedee Truitt and she's not your typically sweet 16 year-old. Escaping her rotten Louisiana life, Deedee flees to Indiana home of her gay half-brother Bill, where she proceeds to seduce Bill's live-in boyfriend Matt, steal $10,000 and lead a cast of devious characters on a frenetic cross-country chase to Los Angeles. Bill is joined in hot pursuit by an embittered spinster, a love-torn Sherrif and Matt's jilted ex-lover. Writer-director Don Roos' film has a gnarled wisdom about the modern romance - straight and gay - which makes The Opposite Of Sex a sharp, wickedly funny look at life and sex in the 90s. |
